Despite the name, African Turquoise is not true turquoise — it is a form of jasper (microcrystalline quartz) from Africa with a similar teal-green colouration and matrix patterning. It is sold widely under this name in the crystal trade due to its visual resemblance to turquoise. In crystal tradition it is associated with growth, communication, and positive change.
