First published in 1909, the Rider Waite Tarot is the most widely used and referenced tarot deck in the world. Designed by Pamela Colman Smith under the direction of Arthur Edward Waite, it was the first deck to include fully illustrated scenes on every one of the 78 cards — including the Minor Arcana — making it far more accessible for reading than earlier decks. Almost every modern tarot deck draws on its symbolism and structure.
